Today is a day to celebrate the life of Sekuru Mike someone I am privileged as are many others to have called a very special friend. I would especially like to thank Mike for more than 65 years of friendship and our family will cherish all the special times our families shared over those years. Mike you were a trail blazer in the Horseshoe Block giving all of yourself plus more to all those you met and will be sadly missed by your very many true friends, the one blessing however is that you are once again reunited with your one true love Barbara. Rest in peace mukoma my friend. Condolences to Tracy, Rory and families you are in our thought on this very sad day but we know our true friendship will live on.

It was an absolute pleasure working for Mike for those three on Chingoma farm 72-75. A wonderful boss and absolutely fair

    Uncle Mike,
….. We couldn’t have asked for more. The most adventurous man ever. A true pioneer with a passion for life, adventure & fun. With a large tot of naughtiness…. we will have to blame Gran/Greta for that!!!!! (She loved a bit of fun)

I always loved coming out to the farm for visits and continued even after leaving. Time on Siyalima with all the family was precious to me having lost Dad so young. Mike would always welcome me with open arms.

Christmases with the patio overflowing with kids gifts. ( yes, even the one my cousin Vicky stole! I still need that Teddy Vicky!)
Memories of meals fit for Kings in the 30 seater dining room with beautiful glass doors. Yes ….Those ones my brother rode through with no brakes!
The countless diner parties and get togethers were always top notch….., nothing less.
Trips to the palms were always fascinating with Mike’s history of it all.
Tobacco, horses, pigs, macadamia, granadilla, antheriums, furniture, tiling, the barns and phenomenal architecture …… Mike was always proud to show us his latest ventures. I loved venturing round the farm with him and seeing it all. The freedom of getting onto a bike a venturing to Nyambari and beyond was heaven as a child.

The Club …. his 2nd home! Thanks to him and the community for the parties there too. Mike & I often the last to leave! always nervous of ” the bridge ” on route home, after Mike being found downstream after a night at the club!

Thank you Uncle Mike for being a part of my life and all the fun we had. I was truly privileged to have such an unique Uncle. A life lived to the fullest.
Soar high above Nyambari, you will be missed. I’ll treasure the memories. My love and thoughts with Ror, Trace and all the family.
    All my love

Well what a wonderful hour of tributes to darling Mike. I, Mary-Anne, am Caro’s cousin and have been watching with Stephen and wishing we were there with you all. We spent wonderful times with Mike and Caro in England, Zim and, in February this year, in Jeffrey’s Bay. We enjoyed every minute with them both. We were so delighted by all the stories this afternoon. Goodbye Mike, we will miss you. xx
